Abstract
The development of antineutrophil cytoplasmatic antibody (ANCA) during therapy with propylthiouracil (PTU) is not uncommon but occasionally has clinical significance. Risk factors associated with the development of ANCA associated systemic vasculitis when taking PTU have been described. We report and discuss a case with PTU-induced ANCA vasculi-tis with severe systemic manifestations, which improved with discontinuation of the antithyroid drug, plasmapheresis and on starting systemic immunosuppressive therapy.
